IT-SD offers disk drive support for all Apple macOS and OS X, Microsoft Windows and Google Android operating systems. Some of our more popular services include diagnosis and repair of disk sectors and filesystems, formatting and partitioning, defragmentation, RAID setup and maintenance, and Apple Boot Camp support. If you are experiencing problems with a computer or disk drive and need help, contact us.
Drive analysis and repair entails the use of operating system native and third-party disk utility applications to search for and repair failing and non-functional drive sectors, and errors in the formatting, partitioning, and filesystem. If your computer or memory device is not functioning properly, it may be experiencing a problem with its memory disk or filesystem. Contact IT-SD for a free estimate.
Disk Formatting is the process of preparing a data storage device such as a hard disk drive, solid-state drive, floppy disk or USB flash drive for initial use while Disk Partitioning is the creation of one or more regions on a hard disk or other storage media so that an operating system can manage information in each region separately. If you would like assistance with drive formatting or partitioning, please contact IT-SD.
RAID, or a Redundant Array of Independent Disks is a data storage virtualization technology that combines multiple physical disk drives into one or more logical units for the purposes of data redundancy and performance improvement. Data is distributed across the drives in one of several ways, referred to as RAID levels, depending on the required level of redundancy and performance. The different schemes, or data distribution layouts, are named by the word “RAID” followed by a number, for example RAID 0 or RAID 1. Each scheme, or RAID level, provides a different balance among the key goals: reliability, availability, performance, and capacity. If you need assistance setting up, repairing or maintaining a RAID Array, contact us.
Disk Defragmentation is the process that reduces the amount of file fragmentation on a drive by physically organizing the contents into the smallest number of contiguous regions (fragments) possible and creating larger regions of free space using compaction to impede the return of fragmentation. Some defragmentation utilities also try to keep smaller files within a single directory together because they are often accessed in sequence. Defragmentation is advantageous to file systems on electromechanical disk drives because the data read/write speed when accessing fragmented files is slower as compared to accessing the entire contents of a non-fragmented file sequentially without moving the read/write heads to seek other file fragments. If you need help with defragmentation, contact IT-SD.
Apple Boot Camp is a multi-boot utility included with Apple’s macOS and OS X operating systems that assists users in installing Microsoft Windows operating systems on Intel-based Apple computers. If you would like assistance using Boot Camp to install Windows on your Apple computer, call us for a free estimate.
